Date:

The Kano State Fire Service has reported that property worth over ₦132,450,000 was destroyed in various fire incidents across the state during November 2024. The service, led by Hassan Muhammad, responded to 43 fire calls within the month, alongside six false alarms and five rescue operations.

Despite the losses, the service managed to save property valued at ₦310,600,000 and rescued four individuals. Tragically, three lives were lost to the incidents.

Spokesman for the fire service, Saminu Abdullahi, shared these details in a statement, emphasizing the importance of caution during the harmattan season, a period known for heightened fire risks.

“The harmattan season brings increased fire hazards, and we urge the public to handle fire with care to prevent incidents. Additionally, motorists are advised to drive cautiously and adhere to traffic laws, especially during the Christmas holiday season, to reduce road accidents,” Abdullahi advised.

The service received emergency calls from its 29 fire stations across the state, showcasing its robust response system. The Kano State Fire Service remains committed to safeguarding lives and property while urging residents to prioritize safety measures.

This report follows a spate of fire outbreaks in other states, underscoring the need for increased fire safety awareness and preparedness nationwide.
