Work permit issues stop Oshoala from Falcons squad

Date:

Super Falcons coach, Justin Madugu, has addressed the recent omission of star forward Asisat Oshoala from the squad for the upcoming friendly match against France on November 30, 2024, in Angers.

Madugu clarified that Oshoala, who has not featured for the Falcons since the Paris Olympics despite recent friendly matches against Algeria, was excluded from the squad due to travel documentation issues.

Specifically, the issue concerns the expiration of Oshoala’s visa and work permit in the United States, where she is currently based.

“Asisat Oshoala remains an integral part of the Super Falcons and an invaluable player in our squad,” Madugu told Daily Post.

“Her absence is purely due to logistical reasons, not a reflection of her talent or importance to the team.

“Unfortunately, her visa and work permit expired, and she is in the process of renewing them.

“Until those are finalised, she is unable to join us for the friendly against France.”
Madugu said that once the documentation is resolved, Oshoala will be re-invited to the national team for future fixtures.

“Asisat’s contribution to the team is immense, and we look forward to welcoming her back once her situation is sorted.

“Her absence for this match is solely due to the documentation challenges, not because of her ability or standing in the team,” Madugu added.

The Super Falcons will face France at the Stade Raymond Kopa in Angers on November 30 as part of their preparations for upcoming international competitions.
