The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has successfully destroyed a terrorists’ food depot and neutralized several insurgents during airstrikes on their stronghold at Jubillaram in the Tumbuns area of the Lake Chad Basin.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, on Monday in Abuja.
According to Akinboyewa, the operation took place on November 23 at a strategically identified location, pinpointed through meticulous intelligence gathering. The targeted site was a critical food storage facility and a known sanctuary for terrorist commanders and fighters.
Intelligence also linked the terrorists in this area to recent attacks, including a deadly assault on troops in Kareto on November 16. In response, Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets launched a decisive air interdiction mission, destroying the storage structures and eliminating terrorists on the ground.
“Mop-up operations utilizing cannons ensured the complete eradication of fleeing hostile elements,” Akinboyewa stated.
He added that the success of the mission was made possible by extensive Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations over several days, which confirmed the presence of terrorist structures hidden under dense vegetation.
“The destruction of the terrorist enclave, including the food storage facilities, has significantly disrupted their logistical operations, while the neutralization of many fighters has diminished their ability to carry out future attacks,” he said.
Akinboyewa emphasized that this operation underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s steadfast commitment to defending the nation’s sovereignty and its people, both independently and in support of ground forces in counterterrorism efforts.
He further reassured that the NAF will continue its robust operations until all enemies of Nigeria’s peace and prosperity are brought to justice.
